How Amazon calculates printing cost
Every KDP print order is computed in real time. The formula is a fixed per-book charge plus a per-page charge that varies by interior color and trim size. In the US store the fixed charge is about $1.00 for paperback and $6.80 for hardcover. The per-page charge is roughly 1.2¢ for black-and-white, 1.7¢ for standard color and 6.5¢ for premium color.
Ordering author copies
KDP lets you order printed copies of your own book at cost (the same price shown here) plus shipping. Many indie authors order a small batch for signings, ARC readers and review programs. Shipping is calculated at checkout and varies by destination and quantity; 10–25 copies usually qualify for cheaper bulk shipping.
Print cost across marketplaces

Pick a regular trim size (5×8 or 6×9) — large trim adds about 15% to fixed cost. Use black-and-white interior wherever possible.
